This one was painted fast — broad brushstrokes, thick paint, no second-guessing.
With Turmoil, I was less concerned with getting the sky ‘right’ and more focused on how it felt to paint it — the energy, the weight, the pressure in the air.
The texture came from working wet into wet, letting the colours blur and clash a little. Ochres into violet, gold breaking through like it was pushing its way forward.
It’s not a gentle sky — but sometimes, neither is the weather in your chest …
