I first visited Venice in February 2008 and like most folk who have had the privilege, instantly fell in love. We used to get up early in the morning and walk to the Ponte dell'Accademia to watch the morning begin on the Grand Canal. With the first stirrings of the boats bringing in supplies to the city and the Vaporetto taking native Venetians to their work places, we watched the sun rising above the lagoon to meet the day. It is a truly romantic experience and the moments that I witnessed, gazing toward the Basilica Santa Maria della Salute will stay with me forever. I imagine that I will continue to paint it until I can paint no more.
Can you remember it too?
