For now, the roses are swaying in a gentle breeze. They have a diaphanous quality to them perched, as they are, on the end of slender stems. They are delicate and would be crushed instantly should the breeze turn to something much stronger. The only warning of obliteration would be the whistling sound as the wind begins to blow harder. They cannot hear, of course, and are doomed. But here, their memory will live long.
